Here at Southern Care Maintenance Ltd ("SCM"), we respect the privacy needs of our customers and business partners, as well as visitors to our website. Maintaining the privacy of data and information is of great importance to us as it helps foster confidence, goodwill and strong business relationships.
This Privacy Policy is intended to outline the basis upon which any personal data or information that is provided to us, may be collected and processed by (or on behalf of) SCM and has been updated in line with the new European GDPR law which comes into effect on 25th May 2018. It sets out the different ways a company may collect and process your data and SCM is both a Data Controller and a Data Processor -
Consent - such as when you tick a box to receive email newsletters or enquire about our products or services or make a payment to us.
Contractual - where we require your data as part of a contract to supply goods or services.
Legal - where the law requires us to collect and process your data.
Legitimate Interest - where we require your data to purse our legitimate interests as might be reasonably expected for running a business, this includes the use of CCTV on our premises for the purpose of security.
What, When, How and Why we collect data
As a company we collect and process data in several different ways, for example -

When you make a purchase or take out a contract

This data can include name, address, phone numbers, email address, photos together with products and equipment record details and is used for the sole purpose of responding to your enquiry and keeping in contact. We also maintain employment details of our staff, vehicle and location records and IT information.
Collection of this information enables us to maintain the business efficiently and to comply with our policies and procedures as well as our legal obligations. We generally do not hold "Special Category" data. We will never sell or share this information with any third parties.
Website and Cookies
Our website is secure, as shown by https in the address bar and contains various ways for visitors to easily connect with us and for us to keep you updated about our products and services and for registering for a mySCM account. The data submitted is sent via a secure connection and is encrypted end to end.
A cookie is a piece of information sent to your web browser by a website and we may use cookies from time to time for the sole purpose of allowing us to see information about the visitors to our website. The cookies do not store any personal information about you.
Usernames and Passwords
These are only provided to the named customer we have registered on our system and will be confirmed by email to that person only.
Use and Data Security
We hold data for the purpose of updating customers with our services and products. This may involve profiling of customers and providing marketing information for our business partners and any marketing information we provide can easily be unsubscribed from.
Data Breach Response
Any data breach discovered will be reported within 72 hours where feasible and these will be recorded whether or not they are required to be reported. If the breach is deemed high risk the individual will be notified without undue delay.
Data Retention Period
We keep data only for so long as we need it to provide our services. When we no longer need to use the data and there is no need for us to keep it to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations, we will remove it from our systems.
Your Rights
Individuals can exercise their rights and make a request to see data we hold about them and this can be made by contacting us from the website.
We will usually share this data within 30 days of being asked.
We will correct or delete any data as necessary for you.
You can object to us processing your data and you can ask us to stop using it.
If you opt out of receiving marketing messages from us, we may still send you occasional newsletters and updates about our services, but will only send you marketing material if you have agreed to it. If you would rather not receive this you can easily unsubscribe with the included link.
Complain to a regulator. If you are based in the EEA and think that we haven't complied with data protection laws, you have a right to lodge a complaint.
